Stakeholders gather to identify how to guarantee worker's safety and health

On 12 January 2016, ESIP organized a breakfast discussion at the European Parliament along with other major stakeholders in the area of occupational health and safety (OSH).

The Partnership for European Research in Occupational Safety and Health (PEROSH), the European Forum of the Insurance against Accidents at Work and Occupational Diseases and the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA) all joined forces to reflect upon how to ensure worker's safety and health at work. The event gathered participants from various backgrounds including the European Commission, trade union and employers representatives to discuss current developments and future research and policy priorities at EU level in the field of health and safety at work. Several pre-conditions for safe and Healthy Workplaces in Europe were identified. The development of a holistic prevention culture within companies is necessary and benefits not just the employee but also employers and insurers, enhancing the economy as a whole. Focusing on healthy and active ageing facilitates longer working lives particularly in highly demanding jobs. Strong cooperation between all the stakeholders involved is finally crucial for an effective prevention culture in companies for the benefit of all.
