ESIP invites you to a public workshop on “Pensions for the future: The role of Social Security in long-term sustainability & trust’”. The workshop will take place on March 26 in Brussels, at the premises of the Belgian National Employment Office (ONEM-RVA).
This is the third year that ESIP's Standing Committee on Pensions organises a public workshop on pension-related matters.
Prof. Sebastian Gajewski, Deputy Minister, Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy, Poland will open the workshop and offer a keynote speech on the objectives and priorities of the ongoing Polish Presidency of the EU.
The workshop will delve into the critical role of social security organisations in supporting policymakers in shaping evidence-based policymaking and fostering public trust through effective communication. Social Security, with their vast expertise in data collection, monitoring, and forecasting, can support decision-makers in crafting well-designed, long-term policies that enhance system resilience and mitigate the impact of unforeseen crises. Given the increasing preference for short-term policy responses, the discussion will emphasise the importance of leveraging high-quality data and expert insights to ensure sustainable social security frameworks. Furthermore, the challenges of gaining recognition for data-driven reports and forecasts can have a significant impact in facing a raising public distrust in institutions. Enhancing transparency and accountability can reinforce confidence in social security schemes.
Key experts from academia, statutory national social security organisations, international organisations, the European Commission and Member States will exchange in a lively and insightful conversation.
The workshop will take place on Wednesday 26 March (9:00-11:15) at the auditorium of the National Employment Office (ONEM-RVA) on Rue de l’Escalier 38, Brussels.
