ESIP-ZUS conference on ‘Social security driving social inclusion and preventing poverty’

Join us in Warsaw for the ESIP-ZUS conference on social inclusion. The conference is co-organised with the Polish Social Insurance Institution (ZUS). The event will take place in Warsaw, on Thursday 11 June 2026.
In 2025, 92.7 million people in the EU (20.9% of the population) were at risk of poverty or social exclusion. Poverty is more likely to affect women and people who are in vulnerable situations, like those unemployed or working at precarious jobs, persons with disabilities, migrant and ethnic minority communities and the homeless.
The European Pillar of Social Rights sets ambitious targets for 2030: reducing the number of people at risk of poverty or social exclusion by 15 million, including at least 5 million children. The recently released EU Anti-Poverty Strategy aims to support Member State in achieving these goals and breaking the cycle of intergenerational poverty.
Social security institutions play a crucial role in this effort. Through the implementation of targeted family benefits, minimum income schemes, social action initiatives and activation measures, social security institutions are frontline actors in preventing exclusion and supporting vulnerable groups.
The ESIP-ZUS conference will bring together leaders, practitioners from social security institutions and EU policymakers to explore how social security institutions are driving social inclusion and preventing poverty across Europe.
